According to the stats released by CIA World Fact book, United States is the largest consumer of oil in the world. US consumes almost of 25% of the world’s oil. Being largest economy of the world, the insatiable thirst for oil by US effects its balance of payment to a large extent and is largely responsible for growing trade deficit. 
China stands at the second place with its ever growing fast paced economy and demand for the oil. Consumption of oil in China is set to increase at the fastest rate in the world for many years to come. China has already become biggest consumer of energy in the world. China consumes 8.9% of world’s fuel, far less then US currently. Japan is at third spot in oil consumption but may soon be replaced by fast growing economies of Russia and India. Other developed economies like Germany and UK are constantly slipping down the list year after year as developing world steps over gas.
